After stealing jewellery they left in a silver Toyota Celica and smashed the window of the Sainsbury’s store, taking champagne and a scratch card machine at 3.39am.

Both premises were unoccupied at the time and police were called by security services.

Det Insp Mark Truelove, of Kirklees CID, said police were looking for three men and believed the vehicle they used may have been stolen in a burglary the previous day, now displaying fake number plates.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
