Marilyn in medal recognition

Community worker Marilyn Waterman was recognised for her contribution during a service in Wetherby.

She was presented with her British Empire Medal by the Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire, Dr Ingrid Roscoe, at a lunchtime function at Bowcliffe Hall.

The medal was re-introduced as part of the Honours Awards in 2012 and Marilyn was one of just seven recipients in West Yorkshire.

In 2006, Marilyn co-founded the Earlswood Community Group, improving facilities and creating more opportunities for the residents to socialise.

She has worked tirelessly and selflessly since then, making the effort to visit people personally to let them know about upcoming events.

Marilyn has also helped to deliver hot lunches to residents in the complex who are unable to attend.
