People of all ages are invited to join Coun Martyn Bolt and Dewsbury Rams mascot Roger Ram for the walk from Mirfield Library to the Tetleys Stadium on Sunday July 14.

And everyone who takes part will be able to buy tickets for the Rams’ match against York that day for just £2.

Coun Bolt said: “The walk was suggested by a contact at the club who’s supportive of my chosen charity.

“It’s the first major event for the appeal in North Kirklees. Throughout the year, we’re hoping to move events around to make sure people can take part.”

Money raised will go to the mayor’s One For All appeal in aid of One Community.

The foundation gives grants to Kirklees charities and voluntary groups.

Coun Bolt said: “If you’re doing one event in this one year, please support One Community. It’s a new charity that’s filling a much needed gap. The more we can do to support it, the better.”

Walkers will leave Mirfield Library at 11am, taking a break at the West Riding in Dewsbury along the way.

The walk is expected to finish at around 2.15pm at the stadium in Owl Lane where the game kicks off at 3pm.

Registration is £5, payable on the day. Sponsor forms are available from [email protected] or the club.
