Meet your Kirklees Council election candidates

PEOPLE across Kirklees will be taking to the polls on May 5 to vote in local council elections.

Currently there are 24 Labour councillors in Kirklees, 20 Conservative, 19 Liberal Democrats, four Green and two Independent. There will be 23 sets up for grabs on polling day.

Voters will also be having their say on the referendum on whether or not the ‘first past the post’ system to elect MPs to the House of Commons should be changed to the ‘alternative vote’ system.

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm.
