Minster sends season’s greetings to help charity

DEWSBURY Minster is working with a local firm to help a worthy cause by selling Christmas cards.

The cards, produced by Dewsbury-based UK Greetings, will be sold to raise cash for The Children’s Society.

On the front of the card is a photo of one of Libby Purves’ cribs from around the world. The BBC broadcaster is displaying her private collection of cribs in the Minster for the next two months. The exhibition and the cards will be unveiled at a VIP event at the Minster this evening.

Jill Alexander from UK Greetings said the company was delighted when the Rev Canon Kevin Partington asked it to make a card.

She said: “We try and do what we can to help charities, and we really do try to get actively involved with them.”

Mr Partington told members of Dewsbury Chamber of Trade at a recent meeting: “It’s another opportunity for a local firm to work with your Minster, and the cards look fantastic.”

The Children’s Society chief executive Bob Reitemeier said: “We are delighted to be working with Dewsbury Minster and UK Greetings to bring parishioners a unique range of Christmas cards to raise money.

“Each card sold will allow The Children’s Society to continue its work, helping the most disadvantaged children in the community and across the country.”
