Mums are dropping in

DROP-in sessions and coffee mornings for people of all ages are being held at a local church.

The fortnightly sessions at Thornhill Methodist Church are held every other Thursday and provide an opportunity for local parents to take their toddlers along and get together for games and gossip.

The group was set up in October by Thelma Ferguson. She said: “The mornings are open to everyone, elderly people as well as mums and toddlers.

“It’s an opportunity for people to get together and have a chat.

“We’re also available to give advice if people want it and the church is open for anyone who wants an opportunity for prayer.

“We have a good selection of toys for the children to play with and we get them joining in with nursery rhymes.

“It’s really a case of the church opening its doors for anyone who wants to call in.

“There is no charge, although any donations to help cover coffee costs are welcome.”

The sessions are run by Mrs Ferguson who with her husband is part of the Fresh Expressions team, which works with the Methodist church.

The next drop-in session will be on Thursday December 8, 9.30am-11.30am at the church in Chapel Lane, Thornhill, followed by a special Christmas session on December 22 with carols and mince pies.
