The cycling-mad Mayor of Kirklees, Coun Martyn Bolt, will launch a Tour de France-themed museum scheme as part of the 100-day Yorkshire Festival.

Le Tour des Musées has been created by Kirklees Museums and Galleries to encourage people to visit all the museums in the district and take part in a range of activities.

Visitors will be able to collect a leaflet which needs to be stickered at each of the sites to give them the chance to earn prizes for visiting three or more of the sites during the 100 days of the festival.

And Coun Bolt will be cycling between all the tour museums on Saturday March 29 to kick it all off.

Activities throughout Le Tour include learning Yorkshire phrases in French at Bagshaw Museum, which also has a display of cycling memorabilia; designing a jersey at Dewsbury Museum; add your favourite Yorkshire place to red House Museum’s interactive map; and celebrate the build up to Le Grand Depart with a fun cycling themed quiz at Oakwell Hall’s walled gardens.
