Hide AdKaram served as both Mayor of Kirklees and chairman of the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority.
He will be missed for his enthusiasm, his persistence and his ability to relate people of all ages and backgrounds.
Karam will be a hard act to follow but I am pleased that the Liberal Democrats have chosen a worthy successor in Waheed Anwar.
Waheed is a community campaigner in the same mould as Karam and will build on his many years of good work.
