What about local corner shops?
I do find it odd that the people who take the time to start comparing prices don’t actually walk into their local convenience stores and compare the prices in there.
I can go into a local shop and buy produce cheaper than I can do by riding to Tesco, Asda, Morrisons or Sainsbury’s.

Hide AdI purchase most of my stuff at Chidswell Service Station. I can buy bread for the same price as Tesco, I can buy milk cheaper, on some occasions, than Tesco, and I can buy eggs for £1, free range.
But the only people who seem to get a mention in the paper, whether it’s good news or bad news, is Tesco etc.
