Orchard pupils turn detective to solve puzzle

Children from Orchard Primary Academy in Chickenley have used CSI-style forensic skills to solve a mystery. The reception class used fingerprinting and shoe print analysis to tackle a puzzle based on the story of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The session was organised by Think Forensic as part of their programme to get young children interested in forensic science through interactive learning.

“On behalf of the Think Forensic team we would like to say a really big thank you for a tremendous morning with the children at Orchard Primary. We were all very impressed at how focussed the children were throughout the morning. Your staff are totally dedicated and were extremely welcoming,” said Sue Proctor from Think Forensic.

Dewsbury’s MP Paula Sherriff visited the school to watch the activity and parents were also invited to a workshop to seen the youngsters in action.

The programme was developed by qualified science teachers and can be taught by class teachers.
