League 1: Dewsbury Rams v Workington Town LIVE
However...
Workington’s last two league defeats came last weekend at home to Doncaster, 19-22, and against Hunslet in May. In between they won all of their six games, scoring an impressive 254 points.
Workington versus the Top Three
Workington, on the other hand, have failed to record a victory against any of the top three - Dewsbury, Hunslet and Doncaster - so far this season. Doncaster have completed the double over the Cumbrians, while Dewsbury and Hunslet have also gained a win each.
Rams’ home form
The Rams have been rampant at home this season. Unbeaten in all competitive outings at the FLAIR Stadium in 2023, Finn’s men have racked up 298 of their total 559 League 1 points at home, conceding only 56 in the process in eight games - an average of seven points conceded per game.
How things stand
It’s pretty simple really - a win for Dewsbury over fourth-placed Workington today will see them crowned League 1 champions. They had their first opportunity at sealing the title last weekend at Hunslet, but slipped to a 16-14 defeat, which kept Hunslet’s own slim title dreams alive.
Dewsbury line-up
Liam Finn makes a few changes to the side which suffered their first defeat of the season last weekend at Hunslet. Matt Garside (suspended), Lewis Carr (dead leg), Will Maher and Joe Summers all miss out. Andy Gabriel has been recalled from his spell at Oldham to start on the wing; Ronan Dixon and Connor Davies are promoted from the bench, while Elliot Morris and Dale Ferguson, who hasn’t featured since June due to a knee injury, come onto the bench.
