Home Manager, Gary Kent, said: "I'm proud of everything my team have achieved over the past year.

"Their dedication and commitment to their residents during the course of the pandemic has been nothing short of inspiring to see how they have been able to continue to adapt to their situation and create fun and exciting things for our residents to do."

The nomination is testament to the team’s dedication and genuine efforts to go above and beyond their job role to provide person-centred care for their residents.

The finalists will attend a virtual meeting this week where they will be interviewed by several judges who themselves work within the care sector.

The Great British Care Award finalist announcement, follows Lydgate Lodge’s recent staff celebration as six incredible team members were recently recognised for reaching their working centenary anniversaries, accomplishing ten years of loyal service to their Yorkshire residents.

Ernest Barnes, who celebrated his 100th birthday with the team in May, said: "Every one of the carers at Lydgate Lodge should be proud of themselves for being selected as a finalist under the team category.

"I have always been impressed with their commitment to providing top quality care, my birthday celebrations were very special, and I could see the thought that went into organising everything from the team. Congratulations - I'm rooting for them all to bring home the title."

Lydgate Lodge is operated by Ideal Carehomes and has been awarded a ‘Good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission.
