And Tim Fountain said he owes his success to Dewsbury Arts Group.

Mr Fountain, who grew up in West Ardsley, was a member of the arts group from the age of 14.

Now his online audio drama, Rock, which tells the story of 1950s film star Rock Hudson, has been nominated for a BBC audio drama award.

He said: “I don’t think I would have got involved in theatre at all if it wasn’t for Dewsbury Arts Group.”

The awards ceremony takes place at the BBC Radio Theatre in London on January 29.
