Police appeal after two serious assaults in Cleckheaton

A knife-wielding man punched a woman and slashed a man’s arm in Cleckheaton.

Police are appealing for witnesses after these two serious, linked assaults outside and near the George pub in the town’s centre between 4am and 4.45am on Saturday August 23.

The man first punched the 22-year-old woman at the rear of the pub but she did not need hospital treatment.

He then approached a man in a silver Renault Megane on Greenside.

Smashing the car window with what was believed to be a knife, the man then cut the 29-year-old driver’s arm.

The victim was able to drive away, but later needed treatment.

The suspect for both offences has been described as in his early 20s with scruffy, mousey hair.

He was also described as 5ft 9ins in height and of very thin build. He had a small amount of facial hair and was wearing a white jacket and jeans.

Detective constable Annette Lane of Huddersfield CID, said: “We are linking these two serious offences and are conducting enquiries into the circumstances of what took place.

“I would ask anyone who saw either incident or who can help us identify this man to come forward and contact Huddersfield CID on 101. Information can also be given in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
