Police hunt for Batley robbers armed with a machete
On December 24 last year at about 7.30am the men made off with a large quantity of cash, cigarettes and alcohol from a newsagent in Bradford Road, Batley.
Det Con Mark Willetts, from Kiklees District CID, said: “This was a very frightening experience for the shopkeeper, who was fortunately uninjured in the robbery, but has been left understandably shaken by what took place.

Hide Ad“These men need to be identified and brought before the courts.
“I would ask people to take a good look at the CCTV footage and if they recognise the men to contact police.”
The first suspect was a white male, about 30 and of medium build.
He was wearing a beige or light brown coat with a half zip at front, a royal blue hooded top, which was worn underneath, as well as gloves and jeans.

Hide AdThe CCTV footage suggests he had a long, thin nose and short hair, which was receding at the front and balding at the crown.
The second suspect was an Asian male in his 20s or 30s, of Pakistani or Indian descent.
He had a slim build and wore a navy blue hooded top and light grey tracksuit bottoms.
He had dark short hair and a very thin, gaunt face with a long, pointy nose.

Hide AdBoth suspects are thought to have used a dark or navy Ford Fiesta during the robbery.

A 51-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on police bail.
