The victim was walking home alone through Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury Moor, at about 9pm on Friday August 22 when the group approached him. Two were holding the bats, police said.

One of the suspects demanded the man empty his pockets – but the victim pushed one of them aside and ran out of the park

Detective Constable Richard Brooke, of Huddersfield CID, said: “This was an extremely frightening thing for the victim to have gone through, particularly as he was on his own.

“It was dark at the time so the man has unfortunately been unable to provide descriptions of the suspects.

“I would encourage anyone who may know who these individuals are, and anyone who may have any further information to contact me on 101, or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
