Former Dewsbury rag warehouses to have new lease of life as apartments

The Grade II-listed former rag warehouses on Bradford Road in Dewsbury will be turned into apartments.
The Dewsbury plan was agreed despite concerns over the potential lack of parking.

Hide AdFifteen of the 27 apartments will be affordable and operated on a right-to-buy basis by the owner.
The conversion of the 1860s buildings will create five studio flats, 14 one-bed flats, seven two-bed flats and one three-bed apartment over four floors.
The housing sites are part of Kirklees Council’s Local Plan, will see tens of thousands of new homes built in the borough.
An order from the Government, the Local Plan includes 31,000 homes, many of which will have to be built within the green belt, as there is insufficient non-green belt land in the borough.
It equates to building 1,730 homes per annum in the borough.
