Pop into a pub for a beer and a book

If you’re off out for a curry tonight you may expect to be asked if you’d like a pint with it.

However, if you’re heading to Wetherspoons you may be asked if you would like something to read instead.

The Union Rooms in Batley is taking part in World Book Night, with the help of the Batley Business Association (BBA). The books will be given out free of charge to anyone who would like them when they place their order. Andrew Marsden (pictured) from the BBA said: “The concept behind it is about providing books from around the world to people who’ve maybe fallen out of the habit of reading or wouldn’t normally consider it. It’s just something a little bit different.”
