Bosun’s was set up by father and son Grahame and Grahame Andrews, who both served in the forces.

Grahame Andrews junior said: “My dad was retired and I was in Afghanistan when I was made redundant, so we decided to start the brewery. I’d raised money for charity while in the army and wanted to carry on, so brewing special beers seemed like a good way.”

Poppies have gone on sale across the town as part of this year’s appeal, and a stall at the Co-op on Huddersfield Rpad will start on Saturday.

Mirfield RBL Poppy Appeal organiser and Old Colonial landlord Tim Wood said: “Last year’s Poppy Appeal raised £13,098 - an exceptional record for us. We’d be thrilled if we came anywhere close to that this year. The parade for the Remembrance Sunday service, on November 10, will assemble at 1.30pm in Lowlands Road for a march off at 2pm via Station Road and Huddersfield Road.
