Red hot firefighter visits Dewsbury

A CALENDAR featuring beefcake firefighters is set to take off in style.

Crew members from around the district are making personal appearances to promote Red Hot Dates 2013 which is raising cash for a number of charities, including the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

On Wednesday, Stephen Lewis from Halifax fire station was at Dewsbury’s Wilkinson’s store to flag up the calendar’s launch in November, answer questions on fire safety and talk about the work of the YAA.

“A lot of people stopped to talk and leave a contribution for the charities,” said the 34-year-old, who is Mr March.

“Amazingly, I wasn’t nervous when I posed. I surprised myself. Some of the lads were embarrassed at first, but it’s for a good cause.”

The calendar costs £5 and features firefighters ‘at work’ with safety messages alongside their photos.

Wilkinson’s supports the YAA as its named charity.
