Robbers steal food from takeaway driver

Hungry thieves robbed a takeaway delivery driver in Birkenshaw at the weekend.

The 36-year-old driver, from Batley, was in Birkenshaw Lane around 11.20pm on Sunday when the incident happened.

He had picked up the fast food from a Cleckheaton takeaway and was taking it to the customer in the village when he was approached by two men.

The men threatened him with a bladed weapon and then stole the food he was carrying before running off, leaving him unharmed.

The first suspect was described as white and in his late 30s, 6ft tall and of medium build with short brown hair and clean shaven. He was wearing black jeans, a blue and white tracksuit top and trainers. He was described as scruffy in appearance and smelling of alcohol.

The second suspect was white, 5ft 3ins tall, and slim wearing a black balaclava, black jeans and a black jacket.
