Six arrests on day of demonstrations in Dewsbury

SIX arrests were made when the English Defence League (EDL) and Unite Against Fascism (UAF) held demonstrations in Dewsbury this weekend.

Hundreds of police officers were involved in a regional operation to make sure the rival events remained peaceful.

Around 450 EDL demonstrators gathered in the car park at Dewsbury train station where a metal enclosure had been set up.
