Force GB were known for their custom rugby kits before branching into cycle wear with a new contract – and are now a part of cycling history.

The firm, in Knowler Hill, worked with Welcome to Yorkshire during the successful bid to host the famous bike race and made cycling shirts for its events and promotions.

It also helped one cycling Mayor look extra sharp for a special event this summer.

The Mayor of Kirklees, Coun Martyn Bolt, donned cycling jerseys in the style of Kirklees civic regalia for the London-Edinburgh-London endurance cycling event in July.

Force GB were the supplier for the 1,000 cyclists that took part in the 1,400km challenge.

On Thursday, at the suggestion of Liversedge and Gomersal councillor David Hall (Con), Coun Bolt visited the company to see its production facilites first hand and meet staff.

He said: “It is always a pleasure to hear of Kirklees businesses doing well, and on this occasion one of our businesses has played a role in bringing millions of visitors and many millions of pounds into the regional tourism economy. Force GB are now producing clothing for cyclists across the country and I wanted to see how they do that.”
