Teen robber repeatedly punched man in face for phone and lighter

A young thug snatched a man's phone and cigarette lighter after attacking him a street.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the robbery in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) in Cleckheaton.

The victim, 24, was walking along Fox Street shortly after 1am when he was approached by two young men.

After requesting a lighter, one of the culprits grabbed and forcibly searched the victim before repeatedly punching him to the face and head.

The suspect who asked for the lighter is described as 17- to 18-years-old, of large build, under 5ft 11ins in height, with short brown/ginger hair.

The other is described as being of a similar age, slimmer and taller than the other male, with blond hair.

Anyone who witnessed the robbery, or saw two males matching the suspects’ descriptions in the area around the time of this offence, are asked to call Kirklees District CID via 101.
