Thieves steal safe full of cash in raid

Thieves stole a safe full of cash from an office in Ravensthorpe in the middle of the night, dealing a major blow to a local business.

CCTV footage shows a car making several visits to RHS 24/7 Recovery and Storage in Bradbury Street in the early hours of last Wednesday morning. They tried to force the gate to the premises open by driving a car into it, then used tools to prise it open far enough for a man to slip underneath it.

He can be seen on the footage slipping back under the shutter with the safe less than a minute later, then getting into the car before driving away.

Business owner Alfie Aziz said the incident was “devastating”. He said: “People are coming round to collect money from me but I don’t have any money left. I’m trying to buy time to get myself in order.”

This week he put new security measures in place to try and prevent future thefts.

“In this day and age it’s hard for businesses, but I’m paying another £1,000 to put more security in and another £2,000 to put new shutters in,” he said.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that two suspects forced entry to the office in Bradbury Street, stole a safe and left in a vehicle.
