Thornhill Probus Club celebrates 15 years of success

A CLUB for retired professionals and businessmen is going from strength to strength after 15 years.

Founded in 1997, Thornhill Probus Club’s fortnightly meetings regularly attract more than 50 men from Dewsbury and as far afield as Huddersfield and Wakefield.

President Stuart Hirst said: “We’ve got a new member from Kirkhamgate. He said he didn’t know anybody but everybody had made him welcome. That’s what makes Thornhill Probus.”

The club not only hosts a wide variety of speakers, but also organises lunches for members and their partners, trips in the UK and overseas, an annual bowls competition and an annual quiz.

Prospective members are welcome at Thornhill Social Club, Overthorpe Road, on Thursday May 31, 10am.
