The Rev Canon Kevin Partington, rector of Dewsbury Minster, was joined by schoolchildren and members of Churches Together in Dewsbury.
“Holocaust Memorial Day is held on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau,” he said. “I went there a few years ago and brought back a lamp. We lit that as part of the proceedings. We also lay stones on the memorial because that’s how Jews remembertheir dead.”
The service, which included readings, poems and prayers, was held in Longcauseway Memorial Garden on Monday January 27.
