Westborough High School young entrepreneurs win business award

Students at Westborough High School have won a top award for young entrepreneurs in West Yorkshire.

The budding Lord Sugars won Best Trade Stand in the Young Enterprise West Yorkshire Company Programme Competition for their company, Classic Timber.

For the contest, up-and-coming business brains aged 15 to 19 ran their own companies for a year with the help of volunteer mentors.

Classic Timber was made up of 10 students from the school, and produced a range of furniture using reclaimed or donated wood from local providers. Their range included hedgehog houses, bird feeders and jewellery boxes.

The companies had to submit a company report and accounts, set up a trade stand to promote their goods and give a formal presentation.

Young Enterprise manager Sue Swidrak said: “The standard of innovation, entrepreneurship and dedication demonstrated by these young people is truly inspirational.”
