All-round display from classy Parish

Mirfield Parish Cavaliers stormed to a 119-run win at Hunslet Nelson to claim six points from their Central Yorkshire Premier clash.

Cavaliers produced an emphatic display with both bat and ball to outclass the hosts.

The visitors elected to bat and number two bat David Bolt led the way with 72 but he also received support from David Winn (31), Muhammed Shahnawaz (33) and Michael Padgett (30) in a good innings of 233-9.

Nelson struggled as Padgett (5-49), Adil Raza (3-38) and Shahnawaz (2-22) unleashed a three-prong attack that skittled out the hosts for 114 in 37.3 overs.

Another potent attack came from the Birstall bowlers in their 61-run home win over Altofts.

Opener Robert McFarlane (48) and James Keen (37) were the chief run makers in Birstall’s knock of 195 all out in 44.2 overs.

The hosts needed quick success with the ball and they kept the wickets falling thanks to fine bowling from Craig Wood (3-30), McFarlane (3-41), James Byrne (2-18) and Saif Ur-Rehman (2-36).

Altofts’ resolve lasted 36.1 overs and the reply finally ended on 134.

Batley scored 187-9 but it wasn’t enough as they fell 25 runs short at Carlton.

Tariq Hussain took 3-73 but the hosts reached 212-6 and it was too much for Batley despite a brave effort from Fawad Maqsood (55).

Paul Marlow’s 55 not out inspired Liversedge to a six-wicket win at Hopton Mills in Division 1.

Connor Rowlands (2-24) and Zach Wood (2-16) claimed early wickets before Stephen Bland (37 not out) and Michael Carroll (29 not out) steadied the ship and propelled Mills to 134-6.

Carroll (3-24) gave the hosts some hope but Marlow’s knock from number four led Liversedge to 135-4.

Scholes scored a lowly 103 all out but it was enough to give them an 11-run triumph at Oulton.

Dominic Cumming’s 58 was the difference between the sides and accounted for most of Scholes’ total.

There was still lwork to do for the visitors and Mohammed Sharafat (3-7) and Joseph Duffy (3-34) turned the game in Scholes’ favour and helped to bowl out Oulton for just 92.

Mirfield’s innings of 112 all out was defeated by visitors East Leeds who cruised to a 54-run success.

Nasseer Saudagar and Ajmal Zarif took a couple of wickets each as Leeds hit 166-5 and it was too much for Mirfield despite Daniel Martin’s 31 not out.
