Heat is on for Town

THE heat is on next Saturday’s Npower Division One clash between fourth-placed Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday at the Galpharm Stadium, kick-off 12.30pm.

Town kept the pressure on both Sheffield clubs with a 3-1 win at Leyton Orient last night in their game in hand and it’s now a six match sprint to the line with the prize of the second automatic spot at stake.

The Terriers were given a scare at Brisbane Road when Matthew Spring scored for the hosts after 13 minutes.

Simon Grayson’s men hit back almost straight away when Danny Ward’s corner was turned towards goal by Jordan Rhodes and Jimmy Smith got a touch on it before it finished in the net.

Just before half-time Rhodes turned in Alan Lee’s flick on from a Sean Morrison throw-in.

Town continued to pressure Orient and were rewarded in the final minute of the game when Danny Cadamarteri found Rhodes who shrugged off two tackles to score the third goal. It was 37th of the campaign and his 35th in the league which equals a club record held by George Brown and Sammy Taylor.

A down side was right-back Jack Hunt who was given a 10th yellow card and earns a two match ban which rules him out of this weekend’s games against Wednesday and at Bournemouth.

Town are now three points behind Sheffield Wednesday and five behind Sheffield United.
