Gale began his senior playing career with the Moorend club, following a successful spell in junior cricket with Gomersal, and will launch his benefit year at Cleckheaton.

The top table includes former Yorkshire trio Anthony McGrath, David Byas and Matthew Wood, along with MC and after dinner speaker Wayne Morton.

Adam Partridge, from the BBC programme Flog It, will oversee an auction, while there will be further entertainment from comedian Ian ‘Sludge’ Lees.

Gale’s three chosen charities will also profit from a thoroughly deserved benefit year for the two-times County Championship winning captain.

The two remaining tables of 10 are priced £350 and are available from Cleckheaton cricket chairman Dave Worrall via [email protected] or Kevin Mitchell [email protected].

Gale has also pledged his support to several cricket clubs who were badly affected by the December floods.

Yorkshire County Cricket Club, in conjunction with the Yorkshire Cricket Board (YCB) and the Yorkshire Cricket Foundation, have launched the Yorkshire Cricket Floods Taskforce that will work with those affected by the recent floods. It will be spearheaded by Yorkshire captain Gale, chief executive Mark Arthur and former Yorkshire player Neil Hartley, whose former club Bradford and Bingley was badly affected.
