Josh Haynes is leading Birstall’s mounting promotion challenge in Allrounder Bradford League Championship Two.
The all-rounder produced another match winning performance as Birstall defeated Bowling Old Lane by 55 runs to register a sixth victory of the campaign.
Birstall were bowled out for 127, which owed much to the efforts of Ian Carradice, who top scored with an unbeaten 35 as Arsalan Ijaz took 6-22.
But Haynes led the way in reply as he produced superb figures of 8-23 as Birstall dismissed Old Lane for just 72 to seal a win which leaves them third in the table, seven points behind Wakefield St Michaels and 24 off leaders Keighley with a game in hand.
Liversedge and Spen Victoria are level at the foot of the table on 49 points.
Liversedge were unlucky to lose by two wickets against Buttershaw St Pauls.
Samar Farroq made 78 and Adam Ives an unbeaten 38 as Liversedge claimed maximum batting points with a total of 231-8 as James Sawyer (4-56) and Amer Ayoub (4-51) shone with the ball.
Wasim Khaliiq (3-75) and Graham Winn (3-85) helped reduce Buttershaw to 101-5 in reply but experienced campaigner Paul Carroll came in at number seven and hit a 59-ball 100 not out to see his side home.
Spen Victoria suffered a 150-run defeat to Brighouse.
Sabar Sarwant (79), Sohail Hussain (48), Asad Mahmood (42) and Mohammed Waseem (48no) piled on the agony for the Spen bowlers as Brighouse posted 316-7.
Ollie Davison made 56 for Spen but lacked support as they were dismissed for 166 with Sarwant taking 5-26.
Hopton Mills were saved by the rain after Northowram Fields racked up 311-6.
Fields captain John Lister struck three sixes and 23 fours in a brilliant 147 and shared a superb fourth-wicket stand of 220 with Kyle Welsh (91) .
Hopton finished on 180-8 but as they had not received the same number of overs as Northowram each team got three points for an incomplete match plus the bonuses they earned.
