Victory was not enough to lift Scholes off the foot of the table but they are now just six points behind East Bierley.

Morley’s decision to bat first back-fired as James Harding (4-35) and captain James Stansfield (3-8) exploited the helpful bowling conditions to dismiss the home side for 66, with the last four wickets falling for just one run.

Scholes didn’t find batting any easier as they lost seven wickets achieving their victory target.

Paceman Matthew Dowse took 5-25 for Morley who have now lost their last three games after a promising start to the season.

Pudsey Congs earned an eight-wicket win over Lightcliffe thanks to a fine all-round display from Josh Wheatley, who claimed 5-39 against his former club, who were restricted to 189-9.

Congs got their innings off to a flying start with Callum Geldart cracking 56 from just 26 balls, including three sixes and six fours, in an opening stand of 95 with Wheatley.
