Kirklees Council pitches closed
Football and rugby matches on council-managed pitches in Kirklees this weekend (January 7 and 8) have been postponed after consultation with local leagues.
A Council spokeswoman said: “The pitches are saturated following heavy rain over the last few days and are in an unplayable condition, so the decision has been taken to postpone all matches.
“Safety inspections will be made of the conditions by Kirklees grounds maintenance staff and there will be an extra effort to prepare the pitches for future fixtures.”
