Rameez sends Cleck spinning to derby loss

Rameez returned figures of 4-14 from 10.1 overs as Cleckheaton were bowled out for just 85 in the All Rounder Bradford League Premier Division derby at Bennett Lane.

Mally Nicholson (27) was the only batsman to offer any resistance as Cleckheaton were dismissed inside 42 overs.

Captain Gary Fellows made 30 in reply, passing 400 league runs in the process, as his side completed victory.

East Bierley’s hopes of securing their third win in a row were ended by league leaders Pudsey St Lawrence.

Bierley went into the game on the back of a profitable bank holiday weekend, in which they beat Scholes and Hanging Heaton, and they started well when Matthew Lumb dismissed prolific opening batsman Mark Robertshaw from the second ball of the St Lawrence innings.

Lumb went on to finish with 5-78 but Saints fought back superbly.

Adam Waite steadied the ship with 62 before captain James Smith set about the East Bierley attack, hitting six sixes and six fours in his 81 as St Lawrence made 265-9.

East Bierley never looked like challenging the home side’s total and were bowled out for 126 as spinners Steve Watts (4-17) and Tom Hudson (3-43) were the key bowlers.

St Lawrence are 24 points clear of second placed Hanging Heaton, while Bierley slip to second-bottom.

Wicketkeeper Lee Goddard took five victims and struck an unbeaten 74 as New Farnley secured a four-wicket win over Farsley.

Goddard hit a six and 10 fours as New Farnley passed Farsley’s total of 176 with 4.5 overs to spare.

Farsley captain Arthur Price had earlier carried his bat to finish 96 not out – ending just short of his second Bradford Premier League century.

Spinner Dave McCallum was again the most-successful bowler with 4-53.
