Rennison on top form

Bierley were set a challenging 266-8 after Lorenzo Ingram hit 151 not out, including 32 off Kex Ahmed’s final over of the innings.

Former Bierley opener Steve Simpson (46) and Craig Thornton (35) also contributed for Farsley, spinner Luke Jarvis claimed 4-49 for Bierley.

Ingram was upstaged as Bierley’s Andrew Rennison hit seven sixes and eight fours on his way to 102 not out from just 69 balls. Lee Goddard (61) and Gharib Razak (37) shone at the top of the Bierley innings but when they slipped to 174-6 with 10.2 overs remaining, it looked as if Farsley were on course for victory.

Rennison and Muhammad Azhar-Ullah added 97 in an unbroken seventh-wicket stand which took Bierley to victory with five balls to spare. Rennison sealed the win and brought up his century by hitting the first ball of the final over from Andrew Duckworth for six.

Hanging Heaton slipped to third place as they suffered a three-wicket defeat in a low-scoring game at Baildon.

Only James Stansfield (53no) showed any resistance as the visitors were bowled out for 97 with Richard Atkins (5-29) and Craig Hitchenor (3-36) doing the damage.

Heaton’s Mark Lawson claimed 3-21 and Baildon lost seven wickets before edging to their target.

Woodlands recorded their third-successive win as they beat Pudsey St Lawrence by eight wickets to move up to seventh.

Saints captain James Smith made 91 but with Pieter Swanepoel (4-40) and Chris Brice (3-55) in fine form they were bowled out for 193.

Opener Scott Richardson struck 12 fours in a rapid 55 and shared an opening stand of 84 with Sam Frankland (38) for Woodlands. There were further contributions from Brice (50no) and Simon Mason (38no) as Woodlands raced to their target with 17.3 overs to spare.

Cleckheaton have slipped to the bottom of the table after they suffered a 44-run defeat to Pudsey Congs at Moorend.

Cleckheaton dismissed Congs for a modest 135, with pacemen James Lee (4-25) and Iain Wardlaw (3-47) doing the damage. Andrew Bairstow (37no) and opener Gareth Phillips (33) were the top scorers for Congs.

Cleckheaton’s batting capitulated as Richie Lamb claimed 5-38.

Undercliffe earned a first win of the season against Gomersal.

Although Adam Greenwood claimed 5-71, Undercliffe posted 250-7 thanks to Callum Geldart (78), Matthew Bottomley (43), Nawaz Sardar (37) and Ashley Metcalfe (34).

Shabbir Rashid hit seven sixes and eight fours in an innings of 97, while opener Andy Gorrod (55) and Greg Pickles (31) also made valuable contributions but Gomersal fell 31 runs short on 219 all out as Yassir Abbas claimed 3-48.

In Division Two Spen Victoria captain Tosh Baker (79) and Nicky Rushworth (41) helped Spen reach 209.

Andrew Marshall claimed 5-55 before Gary Wainwright (89) and Neil Nicholson (32) led Bankfoot’s successful run chase.

Hartshead Moor lost to Bowling Old Lane. Spinner Mohammad Hanif (3-35) shone to help dismiss Moor for 155 before Old Lane were guided to victory by Mapa Bandara who made 47.
