WHITE Rose battled their way into the top four of Yorkshire League Division Three with a hard-earned win at Bywell Fields.

In an end-to-end game, White Rose ground out the win, led by some outstanding runs from man-of-the-match Josh Taylor, who led the forwards in great style, and his breaks helped bring several tries.

Also in the thick of things was James Kent, while Sier, Holderness and Hardwick all worked hard up front.

Anthony Fallas was the pick of the backs, making several good runs and thoroughly deserved his two tries.

Towell, who scored a spectacular 70-yard try uphill, Oldroyd, Aked, Lumb and Smith all played a part in a well-earned success.

Other tries came from Sier and Josh Taylor while Danny Ashworth landed three goals and a drop-goal.

Victory leaves White Rose fourth in the table, a point behind Eastmoor Dragons A with three games in hand.

They trail neighbours Shaw Cross A by three points but they also have three games in hand on the Sharks in the shake up for promotion.

Castleford Panthers continue to lead the way in Division Three, despite last Saturday’s game at bottom side Harehills being postponed.

The Panthers have won all nine of their league games so far and lead White Rose by six points.
