A bumper crowd saw the Rams take on then cup holders Wigan Warriors 12 months ago and another crackling atmosphere is expected under the floodlights tonight.

Warrington are set to bring a large following for what will be their first visit to Tetley’s Stadium and the first clash between the two sides for almost 30 years.

Dewsbury last met the Wire in April 1986 when they were a top flight side, with Warrington running out 52-0 winners, while the sides have only met six times in Challenge Cup history.

Glenn Morrison’s men will aim to become the first Dewsbury side since 1922 to defeat Warrington in the Cahllenge Cup and progress to the quarter-finals.

The Rams’ task of pulling off a giantkilling act has been hampered by an injury crisis which could see as many as 14 players ruled out of the tie.

Kieran Hyde, Tom Hemingway and James Delaney have all suffered knee injuries in recent weeks, Karl Pryce and Aaron Brown suffered injuries in last Sunday’s Championship win over Hunslet, while talisman scrum-half Anthony Thackeray has a groin injury.

Jason Crookes played with pain-killing injections last Sunday and Ryan Fieldhouse was taken off with a swollen knee in what was his first game back after a long-term injury.

Stephen Nash, Sam Wood and Zach Johnson are all ruled out, Brett Seymour and Wayne Godwin are cup-tied and Jason Muranka is on international duty with Serbia.

Morrison said: “All of the boys are desperate to play but most of them won’t make it.”

The Rams have frozen admission prices for tonight’s game, which is not all ticket.
