Coach Glenn Morrison swooped to sign former Widnes Vikings and London Broncos centre Grady after red tape prevented the club from completing a deal to bring over a Papua New Guinnea World Cup star.

Grady scored 24 tries and landed 103 goals in 75 appearances for the Vikings before making an impression during a one year stint playing in Australia.

Morrison has kept a close eye on the 24-year-old centre and when he heard Grady wanted to return to the north of England, he acted swiftly to ensure he could bring him to Dewsbury.

Morrison said: “I spoke to a number of people in Australia who said that Shane had worked very hard to get selected for the representative team which is a difficult honour to earn.

“His form out there earned him his two-year deal at the Broncos and when I approached him about moving to the Rams he jumped at the chance to join us. We are very excited to get Shane on board.”

Grady made 11 appearances for the Broncos, including one against then Super League champions Leeds Rhinos, scoring a try and three goals.

Dewsbury are gearing up for two friendlies in four days next week as they travel to Keighley Cougars on Thursday, before welcoming Bradford Bulls to Tetley’s Stadium on Sunday, January 26 and Grady is in line to make his Rams’ debut in one of those games.

Grady added “I’m really happy to have signed for Dewsbury. I think with the squad the coaching staff has assembled we can really compete at the higher end of the table. I’m really looking forward to making my debut next week.”
