Last week’s 22-6 defeat at Workington, when the Rams were unfortunate to leave Derwent Park pointless, leaves Glenn Morrison’s men eighth in the Kingstone Press Championship but the three sides immediately below them all have a game in hand.

Dewsbury are only six points above bottom side Hunslet but Glenn Morrison will urge his troops to consolidate their play-off spot by defeating top-eight rivals York on Sunday.

The next two games are likely to prove pivotal for the Rams’ play-off hopes as they travel to another of their rivals Keighley Cougars on July 21.

With eight games remaining, the race for the play-offs and battle to avoid relegation is set to go down to the wire.

Dewsbury’s hopes are very much in the balance as they play four home and four away games, while they have four sides above them and four below them left to play.

n Two clubs face the chop from Super League at the end of next season after it was agreed to reduce the competition from 14 clubs to 12 from the 2015 campaign.
