Rams get chance to avenge Hunslet defeat in cup derby

Dewsbury Rams have been handed a tricky trip to fellow Championship side Hunslet Hawks in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth round.

The tie will take place on Sunday April 19 (kick off 3pm) and Hunslet have confirmed admission prices for the game will be £15 adults, £10 concessions and £5 for Under-16s.

Hunslet inflicted a first defeat on the Rams when the sides met on March 1, so Dewsbury will be well aware of what to expect from Barry Eaton’s men.

Glenn Morrison described his side’s 18-6 defeat at South Leeds Stadium as ‘the worst performance since he has been at the club’ but the Rams will get an early chance to rectify that with the added incentive of potentially drawing one of Super League’s big guns in the last 16.

Dewsbury were made to work hard before overcoming League One side Newcastle Thunder 28-18 in last Sunday’s fourth round tie, while Hunslet also avoided a potential banana skin, defeating Gloucestershire All Golds 28-10.

Tuesday’s Ladbrokes Challenge Cup fifth round draw threw up some intriguing ties with the four Super League clubs who enter at this stage facing tough games.

Bradford Bulls welcome Hull KR to Odsal in arguably the tie of the round, while Hull FC travel to Sheffield Eagles.

Wakefield Trinity entertain Halifax, while early Championship pace setters Leigh Centurions will be looking to spring a cup upset at home to Salford Red Devils.

Batley Bulldogs thrashed amateurs Normanton Knights 78-6 at Belle Vue and entertain League One side Swinton Lions in the fifth round.

Featherstone Rovers, who visit Dewsbury tonight (Friday), face a cup trip to North Wales Crusaders.
