The Rams completed their pre-season programme with a 48-6 defeat to a full-strength Bradford Bulls side last Sunday and they will spend the next week fine tuning their skills and putting a game plan in place for Doncaster on Sunday February 3.

Morrison was delighted that his squad came through their games against Batley, Halifax and Bradford unscathed.

And although winger Austin Buchanan and prop Ben Jones will miss the start of the regular season, everyone else at this stage is reporting a clean bill of health.

“We have a full squad available for Doncaster and there is a headache of who to pick and who to leave out but it’s a good position to be in.

“We have shown in the three games some good stuff and in the first 15 minutes (against Bradford) we dominated.

“We shouldn’t get our heads down but we can learn from this. We wanted some tough friendlies. You don’t learn anything from winning by 50 or 60 points.

“We showed against Halifax that we are a good side and can do things right.”

Several players have put forward strong cases to be included in Morrison’s first squad of the league campaign and Tommy Lillycrop had an excellent game against the Bulls.

Half-backs Aaron Brown, Jy-mel Coleman and Scott Spaven have also shown up well during the three pre-season games and it will be interesting to see who is selected to start for the opening day trip to Doncaster.

Speaking of the Bulls defeat, Morrison added: “They were a big, strong fit side but we stood up and made an impression.

“We had a 60 per cent completion rate so it was back to the first round (against Batley) and a lot were unforced errors which was disappointing.

“It doesn’t matter who the opposition are when you make unforced errors you will be punished.”
