Spicer was forced off just five minutes into last Sunday’s 28-12 defeat and is expected to be out the next two weeks.

It is understood Matthew Haggerty will be allowed to play as RFL disciplinary procedures following his 40th minute sending off against Leigh have not yet begun.

Dewsbury face a tough trip to Barrow as they seek a return to winning ways against a side who overcame Batley Bulldogs 18-14 last week and have renewed confidence.

Rams coach Glenn Morrison knows the task awaiting his side in Cumbria but is confident they can turn with winning points.

Morrison said: “They have a new coach in Bobby (Goulding), they are in dual registration with Salford and have brought some Super League players in.

“They have started to turn things around and had a good result against Batley last week.

“Top teams perform like that every week but it is a mental thing, you have got to be in the right frame of mind each game and if we get the boys doing that, we will be up where we need to be.”

While disappointed with the circumstances surrounding last week’s defeat to Leigh, Morrison was proud of his team’s efforts, adding: “The lads were disappointed but there were plenty of positives to take from the game and we will look to get some confidence ahead of a tough run of games.”

Makali Aizue returned to the side having missed the defeat to Keighley the previous week and had a terrific game.

Morrison added: “I challenged the forwards after the Keighley game and wanted us to carry the ball forward more and that is what you get from Maka week in week out.”
