Sharks invite girls to open day

Shaw Cross Sharks are holding an open day aimed at attracting girls interested in taking up rugby league.

The club are inviting girls in school Years 7, 8, 9 and 10, to this Saturday’s session between noon and 2pm.

There will be a fun coaching session run by qualified Level 2 coaches and there will be an opportunity to see the club’s excellent facilities and hear about plans to expand the Sharks’ girls youth section.

Parents are welcome to attend and see what the game has to offer their daughters and the club will be open from 11.30am.

Girls attending should take along warm sports kit and suitable footwear, changing facilities will be available.

Current players from the girls youth section will be demonstrating skills they have learnt during the past season.

Dewsbury Moor are looking for coaches for the club’s junior section.

Moor run junior teams at Under-8s, 9s, 10s, 11s 12s, 13s, 14s and 15s and are looking for coaches to help with training.

Anyone interested can contact youth secretary Paul Hardy via the club.

Batley Boys junior section are also back in training ahead of their summer campaign.

The club run rugby tots along with teams at Under-8s through to Under-15s and welcome new players at all age groups.
