Wyke hit six to clinch place in Wheatley final

WYKE Wanderers secured a comfortable passage into their first Wheatley Cup final when they earned a 6-1 semi-final win over Tingley Athletic at Ossett Albion last Thursday night.

Wyke of the West Yorkshire League Division One proved too strong for Tingley.

Karl Fawcett led the way for Wyke with a well taken hat-trick, Martyn Hall chipped in with two goals. Joshua Brough completed the scoring.

Wyke will meet Littletown in the final on Thursday May 3 at 7.30pm at Ossett Town.

Wyke Wanderers were also in West Yorkshire League Division One action on Saturday but lost 2-0 at home to Aberford Albion. They also lost 3-2 at home to leaders Brghouse on Wednesday night.

In Division Two Hartshead are ninth after a 2-2 draw at Stanley United while Howden Clough are two points further back in 11th place following a 5-1 defeat at Rothwell town.

Clough’s Reserves had a 1-0 triumph at Otley Town Reserves in Alliance Division Two, and Hartshead Reserves beat visitors Rothwell Reserves 3-2.
